ANAFAE Education Network of Adult and Community Learning Centers
In 2016, the Community Learning Center 9 was selected as the most initiative and best performing education center among the Education Network of Adult and Community Learning Centres established by the Afghan National Association for Adult Education ANAFAE and DVV International.
The CLC 9, located in a semi-urban part of Mazar-e-Sharif City, is headed by a young energetic female education programme manager, Ms. Kolsom Rasuli. She has successfully managed the education programs of the center. She initiated many new courses for young female learners from the neighbourhoods, where many returnees and IDP families live. Together with her team of young teachers she successfully increasing the outreach and improved the quality of the education service of her Community Learning Centre, establish trust within the surrounding communities and paved the way for other female learners to join.
The education programs of the Community Learning Centres 9 supports young people to successfully finalise their school education, to join higher education university studies or to bridge from school education to the world of working life and strengthen the opportunities of young people to get employment.
The education programs of CLC 9 also provide Dari and foreign language courses, IT and Computer programs, Art and Culture, education programs for handicapped children or tailoring classes.
The strong professional efforts and the personal commitment of the young Education Program Manager Ms. Rasuli are outstanding and make a difference.
At her education center, the Science and Konkor programs attract more students and they have achieved distinctive results. In 2016 almost all students who passed Konkor preparation courses provided by CLC9 have successfully been admitted to the governmental universities across the country. Miss Rasuli, moreover, got engaged in social and public awareness activities, e.g. with the support of Afghan Independent Human Rights Organization (AIHRO). She has launched several awareness and human rights events for students and families in her education center. These efforts have turned this center into a productive and highly valued community center. In 2016, 10723 young learners participated in the education programs of CLC 9, and 5238 participants were young females.
The Afghan National Association for Adult Education (ANAFAE) and DVV International actively promote Lifelong Learning and literacy education in Afghanistan since 2005.
In addition, both partners have established an Education Network of 23 Adult and Community Learning Centres (ALC/CLCs), which offer a wide range of education programs to young Afghans. In 2016 about 210.000 young learners were counted in the education programs of the Education Network, 38 % of them were young females.
The Adult and Community Learning Centres provide their education services in Kabul and 11 other provinces. All Community Learning Center (CLCs) are located in Mazar-e-Sharif in the Northern Province of Balkh.
